Support Information for Rural Families

This document is intended to be a resource to support services for individuals, families and community groups in regional areas experiencing hardship.

Western Australians are known for their ability to pull together as a community to support each other in good times and when challenges face us. It is this trait that makes Western Australia such a great place to live and work.

There are times when we all need a little help and support. Seeking support isn’t a sign of weakness but a sign of strength. There are many support networks and forms of assistance available to rural communities and individuals.

If you know someone close to you who needs help, the information in this guide may assist you to direct them to the most appropriate service.

This directory provides useful information on the nature of the services available and how to access them.

If you are seeking advice and support remember you are not alone. When contacting a service and your call is not answered immediately, please do not hang up. Wait on the line or if your call goes to message bank please leave your name and contact number. Someone will call you back as soon as possible.

Community Resilience Scorecards

Dear residents

Our community has been invited to take part in a state-wide collaboration.

This collaboration sees State Government and 139 Local Governments across Western Australia moving forward together.  The study will gather and share baseline and informing data to help local communities like ours to recover and thrive following the COVID-19 outbreak in Australia.

  • This study will provide direct benefit to our community.
  • We will get robust data to share with you that lets us know how we’re coping, as a community.
  • We will prioritise our key focus areas to decide on our next steps, together.

Importantly, we will be able to see how we’re going compared to other local governments – to share our experiences and to learn from one another.

  • Where are we strong, and can help others?
  • Where are we having challenges, and who can help us?

With limited resources available to conduct studies like this, we are grateful to the following organisations for providing funding and pro-bono support to make this possible.

Remarkable times call for remarkable collaboration.  We are stronger when we work together.

This is where we need your help.

  2. To care for the environment and manage costs, please consider submitting your response online.
  3. Estimated completion time = 6-7 minutes. www.research.net/r/MARKYT or download the pdf version and email it to ea@lakegrace.wa.gov.au
  4. Share with your family and friends.  We’d like to hear from all residents aged 18+ years.
  5. If you have any questions about this study, please contact shire@lakegrace.wa.gov.au or ea@lakegrace.wa.gov.au

Register of Gifts and Contributions to Travel

The disclosure requirements around gifts and travel contributions with a value over $200 (or sum of gifts from any one person during a year) have changed and came into effect on March 4, 2016.

Councillors and designated employees are now required to disclose, in writing, to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) within 10 days. A designated employee is the CEO, an employee with delegation of authority, an employee who is a member of a committee comprising councillors and employees and any employee nominated by the local government. This replaces the previous process of disclosing these annually in a return.

Councillors and designated employees have until March 31, 2016 to disclose gifts or travel contributions received between July 1, 2015 and March 3, 2016.

The CEO is required to keep a register of these disclosures and publish the register on our Shire website. Please see below document to view the Shire of Lake Grace's current Register of Gifts and Travel Contributions.

To view our July 1, 2015 to March 3, 2016 Register of Gifts and Travel Contributions please see below document.

If you have any questions about the registers, please contact the Shire's Governance Officer on 08 9890 2500.
